Advantages of automotive window films
Beside making your car more beautiful, window tinting has other advantages for you and your passengers. By applying Skyfol heat protection window films, travelling comfort is highly increased by practically eliminating all irradiated heat. When compared to their area, glass surfaces in a car are extremely big, therefore excessive light is blinding and makes travelling less comfortable. Skyfol window films filter sunshine to the extent of your wish and provide comfort on the back seat. Unfortunately glass filters only some part of UV radiation, while Skyfol window films protect your and your passengers’ health by filtering the whole spectrum of UV. Let’s wish it never happens, but in case of an accident, shards of glass can cause life-threatening injuries. In such a case, Skyfol window films keep the glass pane together, it can be removed for emergency reasons in one piece.
Heat radiating through the windows comes in the form of electromagnetic radiation, whose so-called solar spectrum is transmitted by the glass. This range includes one part of UV radiation, the totality of visible light, and infrared radiation till 2,500 nm. From the perspective of energy content, IR radiation is the most important one, as it makes up 53% of total energy. IR filtering defines how heat protective a window film actually is. Skyfol BabyGuard films filter 95% of IR radiation, which makes them one of the strongest heat protective films in the world today. 46% of energy comes from visible light, which can be filtered by the darkness of the window film.
Light and inside protection
Blinding sunshine coming through large glass surfaces can make a car journey unpleasant, and it can also bother our children. In such cases we often use ad hoc solutions by using different mobile sunshades, but they cause more harm than good. Besides making the car unaesthetic, we filter visible light only; this means that our pupils get dilated and UV radiation can cause more harm. With the help of Skyfol window films, visible light can be filtered to a much larger extent, beside protecting yourself from infrared and UV radiation, and making the car more beautiful.
Protect your valuables
Another important factor is the protection of valuable items. With delivery vans it’s crucial to provide insight protection; with your car as well, if you leave your bag inside, it’s good if the thief doesn’t immediately see what reason they have to break into the car. Of course it does not mean you can be careless, but if you accidentally leave something on the back seat, there’s a good chance the thief will move on to a car where he can see the interior. It is a frequent question how dark the interior of the car will become after tinting – when someone hears of visible light transmission of 5%, they immediately think of total darkness. It’s important to know that our eyes are able to compensate a darkening of 50% immediately, which makes it’s practically unnoticeable. Factory darkened glasses transmit approximately 20% visible light – it might be sufficient for adults, but children are still bothered by sunshine. For young kids, we definitely recommend 5% visible light transmission on rear windows, which provides perfect visibility for them, but at the same time, visible light filtering will in all cases by sufficient.
UV radiation contributes to the aging of the skin, and when it penetrates into its deeper layers, can cause mutations or even cancerous cell problems. Just think about how much time you spend in your car in summer, constantly being exposed to UV radiation. Skyfol window films provide perfect protection against UV with up to 99.9% filtering, thus completely eliminating harmful radiation. Another danger of UV is that is causes the greying of the eye lenses, especially in young children – this makes it more likely that cataracts will be formed. The problem with other shading solutions (such as factory darkened glasses or sunshades) is that they darken the interior space, so your kid’s pupils will dilate. As these solutions filter only about 30-40% of UV, radiation is even more harmful. Beside complete UV protection, Skyfol window films are capable of very strong heat protection, too – car trips will become more pleasant and your health is protected at the same time. If you’d not only protect passengers on the back seat from UV, Skyfol offers two films that can be legally installed on front windows, one of them with an added heat protective feature.
Protection against shards of glass
Skyfol window films are made of polyester with high break strength. In case of an accident, the chance of the glass pane staying together without shards of glass largely depends on three factors: the thickness of the window film, its adhesive and its quality. When developing the Skyfol BabyGuard window film series, protection against shards of glass was an important aspect – these films are 30% thicker than regular ones, have a safety adhesive with stronger adhesion, and also using the highest quality polyester available in the industry. Thanks to the above, BabyGuard films keep the glass pane together more efficiently than other traditional series. You can also protect yourself from shards of glass with films legal on front windows
